Obituary for C. Norman Bates
C. NORMAN BATES
Norman, 74, of Carnegie, died May 1, 2017, in St. Clair Hospital.
He was born April 3, 1943, in Oakdale, a son of the late Charles and Mary Hrapczak Bates.
Mr. Bates was a cost engineer for US Steel for 25 years and was the former owner of the Oakdale Inn. He enjoyed hunting and vegetable gardening and was an avid Steeler fan. He was a member of Holy Trinity R. C. Church.
Surviving are his sons, Scott (Dawn) Bates of McDonald and Mark Bates of Imperial; grandchildren, Rhianna and Brayden Bates; sister, M. Patricia (Fred) Nevar of OH; niece, Pam (Paul) Plunkett of FL and his extended family at the Oakdale Inn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Hennemuth Bates.
Friends will be received Friday 2-8 p.m. in the Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 5000 Noblestown Road, Oakdale (724-693-2800) where a blessing service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Carnegie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
