ROBERT A. KARAS
Robert, 77, of McDonald died Tuesday, May 29, 2018, in UPMC Presbyterian.
He was born October 4, 1940, in Cherry Valley, a son of the late Adolph and Helen Stopenski Karas.
Mr. Karas was a member of St. Alphonsus R. C. Church and was retired from Consol Energy Bailey Mine in Greene County. He was a humble handyman and enjoyed helping many throughout the community with various projects. He was a US Army veteran and enjoyed iron crafting and inventing.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou Patton Karas of McDonald (with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 1, 2018), daughters, Kris (John) Holland of VA and Marie (Greg) Herlevi of OH; grandchildren, Jack and Kasey Holland, Greta Herlevi. Also surviving are his sisters, Helen Baloga of Burgettstown, Martha (Bill) McCreight of Burgettstown and Elizabeth Kinser of Primrose.
Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Avenue, McDonald (724-926-2800). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9:15 a.m. in St. Alphonsus R. C. Church, 219 W. Lincoln Avenue, McDonald. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
