JOHN W. ALRUTZ
John, 72, of Midway, died Sunday, August 12, 2018, in Washington Hospital.
He was born November 5, 1945, in Midway, a son of the late Frederick and Irene Williamson Alrutz.
John was a graduate of Fort Cherry High School Class of 1964, Pittsburgh University and was a human resource specialist with the Corp. of Engineers. After retirement he worked as CSA Consultant with Washington Presbytery and was a member of Raccoon Presbyterian Church and life member of Midway VFW Post 520. He was a Viet Nam army veteran and enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and flower gardening. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Roberta “Betsy” Shoup Alrutz; children, John Wayne (Helen) Alrutz and Heather (Mike) Massey, all of Midway; grandchildren, Gregory Alrutz, Nikolas, Jakob and Kolton Massey.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Alrutz and sisters, Mildred Koty, Marlene Alrutz and Alice Hlavay.
At the request of the deceased, all arrangements are private and are entrusted to Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 106 St. John Street, Midway (724-796-3301) Interment will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Raccoon Presbyterian Church, 858 Candor Road, Bulger, PA 15019.
