I am not sure why, but for some unknown reason, John came to mind this evening. As a teen, I worked for the Army Corps of Engineers Personnel Office and remember how kind and helpful John always was. He always gave me tips on how to improve my skills, how to get things done in an efficient and proficient manner. Once, I can remember John telling me that he sometimes would eat ketchup on friend chicken! He was a really nice guy, I was always tickled by his candor as I imagine that any teen would when listening to him. I am so sorry for your loss and I pray that your faith brings you a measure of comfort as you journey through life without that special piece of you that is no longer here. Jesus said at John 5:25-29 “Most truly I say to you, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who have paid attention will live. For just as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted also to the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to do judging, because he is the Son of man. Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life..." Someday, in the near future, Jesus will call John's name as he did his dear friend Lazarus and he will awaken him from death. May you look brightly toward that promise of the future.
