I just received the Duquesne University alumni magazine, and I was shocked and saddened to see that Ray had passed away last year. He and I went to law school together at night for 4 years. After graduation, I would see him from time to time when he was working at the Webb law firm. He was a truly nice guy, and I am very sorry for your loss.

Ray and I worked together at Bayer but in different areas and only infrequently saw each other. His impact was huge however. The saying that people may not remember what you said but will remember how you made them feel resonates now. Ray had this amazing ability to make everyone always feel valued and, he wasted no time in paying a compliment, offering encouragement or extending gratitude. He made me feel at my best at all times. I will miss his kind encouragement, unrestrained positive energy and care for all. You all have my deepest sympathy and will be in my thoughts. Bill Dodero

I was fortunate enough to have known Ray and to have worked together with him from across the ocean for quite a number of years. I will remember him as a joyful person who was happiest if he could have people work together as a team. His perspective on many issues, sometimes coming out of left field, will be sorely missed. Let these memories, together with many others, keep him alive in our minds!

Dear Harmuth family, I would like to convey my deepest heartfelt condolences to you in memory of Ray. It is with much sadness that I have learned Ray’s passing away. I will always remember him as the bright mind, kind and enthusiastic person that I had the chance to meet and talk to during our time at the company Bayer. You will be missed Ray.
