Joseph C. “Pip” Schuler, 88, of Bulger, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, July 31, 2020 in his home.
Joseph was born on February 9, 1932 in Pittsburgh a son of the late Joseph P. and Coletta (Frei) Schuler.
Joseph was a long time truck driver for Calig Steel Drum for 35 years, and a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Parish, formerly St. Ann’s R.C. Church, Bulger. Mr. Schuler loved life and found enjoyment in many things, especially; gambling, bowling, traveling to Las Vegas, spending time in nature, and being with his family. He was also a member of the Teamsters – Local 249.
Surviving is his loving wife of 70 years, Mary Val Gene (Hertrick) Schuler of Bulger, children; Joseph Schuler of Joffre, Jeannine Schuler of Burgettstown, Laura (Jon Heilman) Schuler of Alabama, Susan Dugas of Slovan, and Amy (Ed) Schuler-Shaw of Bulger, grandchildren; Joseph M. (Jeannine) Schuler, Thomas A. Schuler, David J. (Mandy) Schuler, Dennis C. McCracken, Leigh Anne (Phil) McGivern, Dr. Sarah (Dr. Mario) Serafini, Boyd K. (Fiona) Barker, Matthew J. (Kate) Dugas, Mallory A. (Tyler) Kairys, Sally C. (Justin) Lonchar, Maxwell E. Shaw, great-grandchildren; David, Julianna, Shannon and Maggie McGivern, Lucano and Camilo Serafini, Bodhi Barker IV, James, John (Jack) and Genevieve Dugas, and siblings; Robert (Rose Marie) Schuler, Louis (Marie) Schuler. Ronald “Butch” (Nancy) Schuler, Paul “Gypsy” (Lorraine) Schuler, Mary (Ed) Connell, Audrey (Roy) Knauf, Michael (Lisa) Schuler, and Raymond “Sam” (Mary Lou) Schuler.
Joseph is preceded in death by his sister, Marguerite Zukowski.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 314 W. Lincoln Ave., McDonald (724-926-2800). A blessing service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Candor Cemetery, Bulger. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
