Kenneth J. Zierden, 79, of McDonald, North Fayette Twp., passed away, with his family by his side, on Saturday, August 29, 2020.
Kenneth was born on September 26, 1940, in Sturgeon, son of the late Theadore and Rose Marie (DeLaney) Zierden.
Ken was a dedicated lineman, serving over 40 years with Duquesne Light. Most will remember Ken for his dedication to the Sturegon Belgium Club and for his meticulous, golf course like lawn that he kept. When not playing cards at the club Ken loved spending time on his back porch, feeding "only" the birds and never the squirrels! He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden, golfing, bowling, horseshoes, and spending time outside. Above all, spending time with his family was most important. Ken had a special love and bond for his tiny caregiver, his granddaughter, Talia.
Surviving is his loving wife of 22 years, Deborah (McLaughlin) Zierden of McDonald, North Fayette Twp., children; Sharon (James) Kerna of Collier Twp., Jodi (Dave) Holets of Robinson Twp., and Joe (Allie) Gizoni of Clinton, grandchildren: Ryan, Adam, Erik, Kenny, Kaeli, Hannah, Michael, and Talia, 3 great-grandchildren, and siblings; Donna (Late Joseph) Swider of Oakdale, Ted (Judy) Zierden of Coraopolis, and J. Dennis Zierden of Texas.
Along with his parents, Ken is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth D. Zierden.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory, 5000 Noblestown Rd., Oakdale (724-693-2800). A Blessing service will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Robinson Run Cemetery, 504 Sunset Ln., McDonald
