Alfred H. Tournay, Jr., 63, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020, in Washington Hospital, surrounded by his family. He spent his entire life in McDonald.

He was born April 21, 1950, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Alfred Tournay, Sr. and Delores Longstreth Tournay.

He worked at J&L Steel for 10 years until it closed. He then worked for Warren Fein for 20 years. In 2000, he started the Tournay & Son Trim Carpentry business; which he passed onto his son Eddie in 2007.

Mr. Tournay was a US Army Vietnam War veteran, serving 3 years of active duty and 6 years in the Reserves. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a member and past president of the Belgium Club in McDonald and past trustee of the VFW Post 567. He loved watching Steeler football. He also enjoyed traveling, especially with his grandchildren. He liked parasailing and while in Jamaica, climbed Dunns River Falls.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Toward Tournay of McDonald; sons: Alfred Tournay III and Timothy, and Eddie (Kim) Tournay of Hickory; grandchildren: Zachary, Kailee, Ally-Grace and Ava and his best friend, his pug, Coco Chanel. Also surviving is a brother Robert of Aliquippa, his Aunt Rosemarie (Frank) Barbetta, and nephew Brad Tournay. He is preceded in death by a brother Rick.

Very sad to hear of Al’s passing. To Bonnie and family, I send prayers, love and hugs to you in this very sad time. I have lots of fun, wonderful memories with your family. Al would always tell me about all the wonderful vacations you had when I worked at the store. I also enjoyed all the parties we had at your house in the summer. It’s comforting to know that we will see Al again on the other side. Rest In Peace my friend!πŸ˜ŒπŸ™πŸ»

How could I ever forget Al. Through all these years I have felt a closeness to you and him since day one. Family is the only word I can come up with, as that is what you kids were to me. I have known you two all of your lives and I remember all the times we shared. We did have some fun times and that is what I will always remember. I will miss Al and I pray that he has found peace and rest with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Bonnie, you were always a love since the day you were born honey. I have beautiful memories of you, Al and all your family. I loved each and every one of you and it as always been my pleasure to have been a part of your lives. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Love, Marlene

Bonnie, Coco, and family:
I will miss one of my favorite ornery gentlemen! He had a heart of gold and I enjoyed our brief chats at the pharmacy! Glad I got to know him and share pictures and dog stories!
