Obituary

Roberta J. Tobin, 81, of McDonald, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2020, in her home.

Roberta was born on August 12, 1939, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Robert and Gladys (Surgeon) Moody.

Mrs. Tobin was a homemaker by trade, but did so much more within her community. She was a devoted member of St. Alphonsus R.C. Church, now St. Isadore the Farmer Parish, McDonald, where she participated in the choir, lectured, was a eucharistic minister, helped with many of the church dinners, and was the leader of the funeral luncheon ladies. Roberta’s helping hand did not stop here. She was an active advocate for the Heritage Public Library in McDonald, where she was able to combine her love of helping others and reading.

Surviving are her children; Jennifer (Joseph) Pollack of Aliquippa, Patrick (Karen) Tobin of Michigan, Robert Tobin of McDonald, and David Tobin of Bridgeville, grandchildren, Emily and Sean Tobin, and sisters, Junita Berthold of Florida, and Shirley Lanoue of Ohio.

Roberta is preceded in death by her loving husband John P. Tobin (2010) and her son, Mark Tobin (1980).

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, November 21, 2020, at 10 a.m., for a mass of Christian burial at St. Isadore the Farmer Parish, St. Alphonsus Worship Site, 219 W Lincoln Ave, McDonald. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heritage Public Library, 52 4th St, McDonald, PA 15057, or St. Alphonsus Church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, 219 W. Lincoln Ave, McDonald, PA 15057, in memory of Roberta.

I am so sorry for your loss . She was such a loving mother, grandmother ,sister , aunt and friend to many. She was always cheerful and kind even in trying times . If she was your friend, it was forever.
Roberta was a special, life long friend of mine, not to mention a "partner in crime" in our teenage school years. I feel so blessed to have had her in my life. My heart is broken and I will miss her forever.

My love and prayer's are with you all.

I am sooo very sorry to hear about Mrs. Tobins passing. Her and my mom did so much together especially through the library. I enjoyed working with her at the library when she was librarian. Her caring attitude as well as her fun nature made it a joy to work there! My condolences to you all and prayers for healing and comfort. She will be missed....prayers to you all....

Thank you for your kind words. Mom loved Blanche so very much. She enjoyed working with you as well Lori, and her time at the library was her joy. Our mom's are back together in heaven; young and vigorous, sassy and strong.

I've been thinking back thru the years; of all the times I saw her helping out at church...all the work she did at the library...all the times she made me feel welcome in her home. I've been so blessed to have Jenn as a best friend and Mrs. Tobin always on my side.

I’m so sorry to hear about. What a wonderful loving selfless woman she was. How proud you should be to have had such an amazing mom. You have nothing but mine and Bo’s upmost sympathy and respect. For such a lovely wonderful woman. She surely will be missed Bo and Debbie Mehalich and family

You were like a 2nd daughter. We have so many great memories of being together with both of our moms. Thank you for your kind words.

Of course my comments for Maggie are mistakenly written below with Debbie's kind words. Mom enjoyed both you and Bo, and your times in St Alphonsus kitchen. All the church ladies are reunited in heaven.
